To affect the air conditioning process various items of the plant are necessary. These comprise of filters to clean the air, cooler coils for cooling and dehumidification, humidifiers, heater batteries, and fans for supplying and extracting the air. In the majority of cases, for multi-room buildings, a system of ductwork is also needed to distribute the air.
30 May 2012
Since air conditioning systems operate at partial load for most of their lives it is essential to provide a proper system of automatic control. The treatment of automatic controls in this part of the course is virtually non-theoretical. This is because the theory of the subject is complicated. Nevertheless, a reasonable understanding of the subject can be obtained provided that the fundamental principles are outlined and the proper application to air conditioning systems explained.
31 May 2012
This course gives an excellent overview of L8 (2001) ACOP & the HSE initiative for a Code of Conduct for Service Providers. It also reviews the latest legal findings. The course is designed for delegates with a basic knowledge of earlier guidance on legionellosis.
1 Jun 2012
This course introduces the delegate to the whole subject of energy efficiency and management. It covers the basic principles, the relevant legislation, the standard approaches and the 12 step plan for successful control of use of the utilities. It is designed for those new to the subject and those who feel that there is so much change that they need to find an effective way of getting up to date.
6 Jun 2012
The Energy Using Products Directive - introduction of minimum efficiencies for fans on 1st January 2013. ISO 12759 Energy Classification. Responsibilities of specifiers and manufacturers.
Effects of the new Parts L & F; need for higher efficiencies & accurate system resistance; importance of life cycle costs & noise; fan types; fan laws; variable flow. The ATEX Directive.
6 Jun 2012
This three day course will give you grounding in electrical services and equipment and a better appreciation of many of the issues associated with design, installation and maintenance of electrical systems. Delegates will develop their own engineering judgments and confidence when dealing with electrical issues.
7 Jun 2012
Concentrating on achieving the deliverable rather than explaining control theory. How do we control different systems? What are we trying to achieve? What equipment is used & how does it work? Suitable for all engineers involved in design and maintenance of HVAC systems. This course is designed for all engineers involved in the design & maintenance of HVAC systems.
7 Jun 2012
This course covers sprinkler system components; hazard classification; design requirements; water supplies; types of sprinkler; spacing & location of sprinkler heads; piping layout & sizing.
11 Jun 2012
Many people find themselves needing to deal with Mechanical Building Services but have not been equipped with basic information about engineering services in their professional training. The course provides that background & an understanding of the different systems widely used to service buildings. Also it gives delegates a better appreciation of many of the issues associated with design, operation & maintenance of Building Services.
12 Jun 2012
This course provides practical guidance in the preparation of typical FM and Maintenance contract documents and methods of selecting suitable contractors. It also provides clear guidance in the preparation of a bespoke contract and examines the terms and conditions, which need to be considered to ensure that work, meet client expectations.
13 Jun 2012
ISO 50001 will provide organisations with management strategies to increase energy efficiency, reduce costs and improve energy performance. The standard is intended to provide organisations with a recognised framework for integrating energy performance into their management practices.
13 Jun 2012
This course examines and interprets the current Fire Legislation in the UK and explores its impact on employers and those in charge of premises. The implication of building regulations on fire precautions is examined. There is also discussion of the fundamental pre-requisites for a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment.
14 Jun 2012
Compliance with Electricity at Work Regulations is mandatory in the UK. This course explains the requirements of the Regulations & suggests ways to ensure compliance.
14 Jun 2012
This course has been designed to give an overview of the areas where local authorities have the potential to make positive interventions to reduce CO2 emissions from energy use in buildings. It will be relevant to officers and members involved in planning, development control, procurement, property services, sustainability and energy management.
19 Jun 2012
To properly design, commission or operate air systems for environmental control (e.g. air conditioning or ventilation systems) it is essential to appreciate the underlying processes that characterise the changes in the air - the psychrometric processes.
19 Jun 2012
This three day course will give you grounding in electrical services and equipment and a better appreciation of many of the issues associated with design, installation and maintenance of electrical systems. Delegates will develop their own engineering judgments and confidence when dealing with electrical issues.
20 Jun 2012
The UK Government is promoting the image of every home having a smart meter by 2020. Industry and commerce must be far ahead of that deadline so that it can effectively understand and control, costs and environmental emissions. It's no longer just pounds and kilowatt hours but also carbon footprints. Smart meters provide that solution.
21 Jun 2012
A general introduction to below ground building drainage systems, covering the key features of typical drainage systems, explaining practical applications, and including some drain sizing examples.

28 Jun 2012
Energy strategy reports are a requirement for planning permission in London and a number of other UK cities including Oxford, Reading and Brighton. Writing a meaningful report involves making many decisions about what data you use and how you apply it. Whilst using dynamic simulation is a valuable tool it can produce unrealistic results, ensuring you know what to expect before accepting the results is vital. This practical course will review energy strategies and demonstrate how to prepare an energy strategy report.

The carbon reduction commitment (CRC) currently known as the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is set to have a wide reaching impact on all stakeholders involved in the energy and environmental market, from end users to consultants and other service provides.
The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is a mandatory emissions trading scheme that will deliver energy and carbon reductions in large, not energy intensive organisations. Organisations with total electricity consumption through Half Hourly Meters greater than 6,000MWh in 2008 will be affected.
The course aims to provide a detailed overview to the legislative requirement in addition to covering the practicalities of reporting, giving examples of how wider issues will affect end users and the way service providers operate.
This course includes the detailed practicalities of carbon footprinting and extending this to create a wider strategy.
