Trainer - Chris Watts
The course covers use of current standards to demonstrate compliance with fire safety legislation. It describes design techniques, installation procedures and testing requirements.
Details are given of the guidance now provided in BS 5266-10 to assist engineers to produce appropriate systems that can demonstrate compliance with the Fire Safety Order covering emergency lighting not only for evacuation but to safeguard occupants who have to perform safety related duties in a lighting supply failure.
Operators of the premises now need to assess and demonstrate that their emergency lighting is still adequate to protect users. Many of the installations either do not have these relevant system records or they are no longer current so the new BS 5266-10 checklist is designed to be used by emergency lighting engineers to report on the installation. It forms substitute system documentation covering the design, installation and verification of the system. The course explains the categories to be considered and gives guidance on the procedures to complete this documentation.
Who should attend:
Predominantly the course is for designers, Installers and testers of emergency lighting installations. While it covers a technical subject the use of relevant standards makes the course appropriate for inspecting authorities and insurers. Operators of buildings could benefit as the course will enable them to project manage compliance with fire safety legislation.
