This is an in depth course for Consultants & System Designers covering a wide range of issues from the regulatory framework to the practical design of a fire alarm system this course works methodically through the design process considering equipment options & positioning, fire zones, alarm requirements & limitations, necessary calculations, commissioning, hand over, user responsibilities & maintenance.

Day 1
BS 5839 Part 1 (2002) - Identifying important changes. Topics include: the basis of life and property protection with an introduction to zone size and the technology of fire systems and components concluding with detector coverage and sounder requirements.
Day 2
Principles of detection and detail on siting detectors with additional discussions on fire risks and protection.
Day 3
Detailed calculations for fire alarms and sound penetration, principles of volt drop in cables, battery standby requirements and calculations, concluding with system commissioning and handover.
